On December 3, 2021 a Millennium Sapphire Studio ‘Moon Man' NFT was sold at the inaugural NFT Basel charity auction in Miami for $20,000 to a fortunate bidder. NFT Basel was envisioned as an event to showcase the most cutting edge art form today, NFTs, and raise funds for social endeavors.

The event was hosted by Far Away Project's (Far Away), a 501 (c) (3). Far Away is a nonprofit fiscal sponsorship organization that supports global social impact programs and grassroots efforts around the world. The goal of Far Away is to empower social entrepreneurs and project leaders with the means to transform their communities. Projects are selected for fiscal sponsorship based on their alignment with the UN Special Development Goals (SDGs).

The recipient of the $20,000 is Ocean Defenders. Ocean Defenders are an ocean literacy and environmental news platform, packaged in an animated series for children. The comic strips Ocean Defenders produces represent real life ocean conservationists, watersports athletes and icons tackling real ecological issues. Inspired by the emerging SOLARPUNK genre, Ocean Defender's provides a synergistic societal vision where we can all be conscious ocean action heroes in our own way, connected to a thriving and healthy ocean ecosystem.

Millennium Sapphire Studio, the NFT production house of MS Token, created the ‘Moon Man' NFT as part of a series of NFTs inspired by the carvings on the Millennium Sapphire.
